A SORT OF BENCH

Today (9th March 2008) we were down to three after Graham sustained a bruised rib recently.
Get well soon Graham!

Ron, Jill and I cleared some of the scrub near the North (main) entrance to the walk, and some of the branches Ron had been cutting down during the previous week.

During the clearing we in-advertantly created a little bench whilst trying to develop another log-pile. If you come down the steps and after the ramp look to your right - there it is.

Why build log-piles?
They are a habitat for a wide variety of fauna and flora. They rot down and encourage mosses and lichen. In the process they become attractive to small animals as hiding places or even nests.

Our "accidental bench" will eventually rot down.

We are planning to build more substantial benches from stumps and logs.
We would love to get some picnic benches donated.
If you feel you could help please contact me, Mike.

Goto the Gallery - 9th March for more pictures from today.
